BENEFITS OF ALGAE
Every year in May, the algae used in Fanghi D’alga GUAM® products is still gathered from the same depths of the ocean off the coast of Brittany while in the middle of its growth cycle. The young algae is extracted from the bottom of the ocean floor using a traditional instrument called the scoubidou, and is then carried ashore to be aerated and dried by the sunlight and ocean breeze for three days.
Your skin soaks in the products you apply to it, so what you put on your body is equally as important as what you put in your body. Because algae has no root structure (where land plants store a lot of their nutrients), it retains all the nutrients it absorbs in all parts of the plant. It can also absorb fluids, minerals, and gases directly from the nutrient rich ocean, so all vitamins, minerals and other health-giving components are retained in all cells of the algae.
Once harvested and dried the algae maintains 100% of its natural properties, concentrating all the healing benefits of the sea. Organic (photosynthetic) vitamins, trace minerals, lipids, plant sterols, amino acids, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, antioxidants, polyphenols, and flavenoids are but a few of the nutrients in algae. It also contains Fucoidan, Laminarin, and Alginate compounds. Land plants do not contain these photochemicals. According to scientific research, our algae offers many benefits to the body: it re-mineralizes, detoxifies and firms while regulating the moisture balance of the skin, delaying aging and fighting free radicals.
LACOTE & GREEN ENERGY
Lacote is also committed to using sustainable environmental practices as they continue to extract the algae from the sea in the same way it has been done for centuries. In addition, algae does not require the use of fertilizers and/or pesticides. In this way, they are promoting green living by helping nurture an historically environmentally friendly industry.
Another way Lacote is committed to sustainable, earth-friendly practices is through the use of active solar power to generate its facilities. They include the use of photovoltaic panels to harness the energy from the sun. Using this type of constant renewable energy source that replenishes itself naturally will provide us with a healthier and cleaner environment (and thusly our products), contributing to making our planet a better place to live.
